Canonical is pleased to announce an expansion of EMC’s participation as an Ubuntu Cloud Partner. Today at the OpenStack Paris Summit, EMC announced two new offerings – an OpenStack Reference Architecture Program and an EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud (EHC) OpenStack®-powered Edition. This announcement is an indication of EMC’s continued commitment to OpenStack and collaboration with Canonical to expand the OpenStack ecosystem.
Currently EMC is part of Canonical’s OpenStack Interoperability Lab (OIL) as well as its Technical Partner Programme. As part of OIL, Canonical conducts interoperability testing on 3,000 cloud configurations each month with EMC storage along with 25 other OIL partners on Ubuntu OpenStack. OIL delivers customers the confidence that components of an OpenStack cloud work together – making it easier to consume cloud resources. As part of OIL, Canonical and EMC will work together to simplify and automate the installation, deployment and management of OpenStack cloud storage components.
EMC and Canonical have expanded our partnership by providing customers with tested, qualified OpenStack cloud solutions. As Canonical and EMC move our customers into OpenStack clouds, we are helping them use EMC storage solutions with Ubuntu OpenStack. Today around 70 per cent of the Linux images downloaded on all major public clouds are Ubuntu images. And more than 64% of the OpenStack production clouds today are built on Ubuntu, according to the latest OpenStack Survey.
Canonical and EMC are working together to develop the right storage solutions for customers for cloud and scale out production environments. Together Canonical and EMC are committed to building a open and stronger OpenStack cloud ecosystem.
